Carmelite Youth & Young
Adult Ministry (CYYAM)
The Carmelite Youth & Young Adult Ministry is an initiative
of the Irish Province of Carmelites (O.Carm.). The aim is to organise and
facilitate faith oriented activities that will help young people develop and
express their Christian faith. The Carmelite pillars of prayer, service and
community are key to this activity.
If you are interested in any of the activities mentioned or
for more information please contact your local Carmelite Church or the
Carmelite Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office.

Cherith - Monthly Get-togethers for Young Adults: Beginning
February 2012
A space for young people (18-35 years) to meet others who are
exploring their own relationship with God and the world around them through
the lens of Carmelite spirituality. Carmelites take their inspiration from
Elijah and it was in the Cherith that Elijah was fed and nourished by God
(see 1 Kings 17). Together we will explore different forms of prayer,
discuss different issues of faith, and have a bit of craic while we’re at
it!

contemplative prayer to social justice experiments around the city. We are
expecting 2,500 youth and young adults from all over the world. The theme
for the youth space is ‘Go be Church, with Christ and with one another’. The
overall theme of the IEC is the Eucharist; Communion with Christ and with

Annual Carmelite
Pilgrimage to Knock: Sunday, July 22, 2012
The Provincials and
members of both the Order of Carmelites (O.Carm) and the Order of Carmelites
Discalced (OCD) come together on this annual Carmelite Pilgrimage to Knock.
The first group of
Carmelites on Mount Carmel over 800 years ago took Mary as their patroness,
promising her faithful service and expecting her protection and favour. This
annual pilgrimage to our national Marian Shrine is a chance to give thanks
to Mary for her constant love and care for us.
